About this site

This site was developed as a personal online playground and portfolio. This 3rd version has been heavily influenced by the ideas that Elliot Jay Stocks and Jason Santa Maria bring to the table. I loved how Stock’s site does away with sidebars and lets the page content really be front and center. Although this design of mine is a bit too similar in some areas, I see it as a good launching ground to see what I like and don’t. In that same vein, Santa Maria has really pushed the envelope in art direction on the web; I’m hoping to bring the same concept to my blog.

My last blog alternated from longer, thought out posts to quick snippets of something I thought was cool and wanted to share. Twitter has now taken over the later portion, so I’m trying to focus on writing quality content (not my strong suit).

This site will constant be evolving and changing with me though, so you never know what may be next. I hope you enjoy it though and maybe even learn something.

Professional

I’m a Graphic Designer living in Denver, Colorado. I am employed full-time by DEI as their Art Director. I also enjoy running my own design studio, Ryu Graphix.

Although I delight in ALL forms of design… web design is what really gets me going. I love clean, accessible, semantic code — and I would definitely say I am a CSS aficionado.

Secret Identity

When I manage to pry myself away from the computer, I love being active. I am a martial artist, and have been involved primarily in TaekwonDo and Capoeira. Although I don’t train frequently anymore — I do still keep up teaching TKD a bit, and going to capoeira rodas. I play soccer and have recently gotten into yoga and cycling… where I find time… no one knows.
