Creative Outfitters

November 21st, 2008 (6 hours ago) No Comments

I JUST stumbled upon a great find! Composition is a local boutique store serving up some fresh stuff for creatives. It looks like they have some great items, the likes of which you’d be able to find at places like veer.com. With items like Pantone Mugs, rePurposed messenger bags, a great design book selection, and some über nice contemporary furniture; this is definitely a place to check out. I love seeing this sort of shop, and local to boot!

A side note, they have a really slick site. Semi-transparent png overlays and expanding horizontal sections make this a treat among eCommerce sites. Seeing how much care they took in their online precence… I can’t wait to drop by the store. Check them out at www.shopcomposition.com.

RiNo Relocation

November 12th, 2008 1 Comment

Well, I’ve done it. I purchased my first home and have relocated myself and Ryu Graphix to the RiNo district of Denver.

RiNo (River North Art District) seems very cool so far. I’ve mostly been dealing with moving and getting everything situated, but I’m hoping to wander around a bit over the weekend. After a look at their site I can see I’m in some good company (I knew I liked the place for some reason!)

Moving myself and my design studio has been a breeze so far (aside from 2 weeks without internet… gotta love forced vacations). I’ll be posting some photos up in the next week or so. Just wanted to say a big hello to the FireClay Lofts and RiNo Art District!

Mustache4Cash: The Unusual Suspects

October 24th, 2008 No Comments

A quick update on the October mustache for charity! It’s going well, and although I’m getting prety tired of this thing… I’m actually getting used to it (I can look in the mirror now).

Check out my profile here if you’d like to support me and my quest to raise some money to help at-risk youth: http://www.mustache4cash.org/users/386. Every little bit will help, and this is the final week.

To commemorate our journey, we took a group shot today. That, plus about an hour in Photoshop and we have the image below. Hope you enjoy! Write a comment if you dig it, or stop by my profile and share some monetary love! Happy Friday.

Mustache 4 Cash - “at-risk” youth fundraiser

September 30th, 2008 3 Comments

I’m taking part in a unique fundraiser. For an entire month, I’m going to grow a mustache (yes, a mustache) to raise money for at-risk youth here in the Denver Metro area. I’m doing this as part of a fundraiser called Mustache 4 Cash. You have the opportunity to donate to this fundraiser, which will benefit the Bryne Urban Scholars and Colorado Youth at Risk. You can click here to donate online.

You can track my progress here.

IF you want to join this debacle… our team is the HAIR Foundation — we’re up to $120 so far!

Manifest Hope Recap

August 28th, 2008 No Comments

A quick recap from the Manifest Hope show at the Andenken Gallery and an adjacent warehouse during the Democratic National Convention.

This was truly an inspiring art showing. I genuinely feel moved, more than I have by politics anyway in the past — it was very cool seeing so many younger people getting involved and showing their support. Yes, we can!

Spot Gloss Award

August 14th, 2008 2 Comments

Behold! The Spot Gloss Award A.K.A “one great use for Overnight Print’s short run orders.”

A little back-story… A colleague and I were ‘geeking’ out about the spot gloss on the logo of recruiting cards we just did for DEI (ok, I was geeking out, and he was humoring me). And henceforth started using the term ‘spot gloss’ to define little things that get you excited, that few (if any) people around you would appreciate at all.

“Only What You Need” Denver Water Campaign

August 12th, 2008 No Comments

If you don’t have the pleasure of living in Denver, you’ve probably missed the Denver Water campaign. I hate to admit that the first time I took notice of it, I wasn’t cruising the streets… but perusing the pages of a design annual (I’m guessing HOW/Print or Communication Arts). I always love when Denver or Boulder makes it on the design map, but Sukle has knocked this one out of the park!

T-Shirt Aficionados… Prepare To Be Wowed

August 7th, 2008 1 Comment

Just a quick shout-out, I just got my 2nd order from this site and I’m thrilled with them. I’m really digging this trend of cool shirts being printed up on quality materials. It seems like more and more shirts I come across are being printed on American Apparel tees rather than something in the Haynes Beefy T area. *gag* Plus they have these excellent labels printed in the inside A+ attention to detail. Spot Gloss.

If you haven’t seen Design by Humans, make your way over there and check out their shirts. American Apparel + Amazing Art = 2 thumbs up, way up.

P.S. “Spot Gloss” will be explained in an upcoming post, once I get my spot gloss awards in.

The Method… the Action Method

July 28th, 2008 1 Comment

I recently stumbled back upon the Behance Network. It’s basically a MySpace/Facebook for designers and other creatives. I’ve really enjoyed that it’s somewhat screened, hopefully this will filter the junk that sites like deviantArt have. While I was taking a look around my new account there, I got lost on a tangent and wound up reading about “The Action Method.”

Inspiration at This Ain’t No Disco

July 21st, 2008 1 Comment

Ok, so if I’ve spent more than an hour on a site (or re-visited it 10+ times), I guess I should probably share with everyone else!

I found this site either thanks to a link off from nclud about their new diggs, or maybe somewhere off popurls.com, either way, I love this…
